Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Provider Class
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider Course (PALS) is recommended for medical professionals that have not taken a PALS Course in the past or for those that have expired certifications.
The goal of the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. The PALS course reinforces the important concepts of a systematicc approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The course covers child CPR AED and infant CPR, cardiopulmonary arrest, respiratory distress and respiratory failure, compenstated and decompensated shock, instability in patients with arrhyrthmas, and post cardiac arrest management.
The American Heart Assocation requires students to have the current, 2015, PALS Manual to use before, during and after the class. Manuals can be purchased on-line (Amazon) and through the American Heart Association at: https://ebooks.heart.org.
Before taking the PALS couse, students must pass the online PALS Preccourse Self Assessment with a score of 70% or higher. The code to access the Precourse Self Assessment is "pals15".
